What helps them keep that presence? It’s something called Personal Practice.
A personal practice should help increase your level of energy, so you can deal better with the complexity and busyness of our lives. But what differentiates a personal practice from other activities that also give you energy? For example, maybe you really enjoy doing karaoke with friends, or maybe you love shopping. Do those activities count as personal practices?
The difference is in this question: does this activity help me to be more conscious? If it does, then it’s a personal practice. If it only deviates from the reality, then it’s not.
The outside world reflects what’s going on in our inner world, so without a personal practice, it’s easy to get drifted away. Personal practice helps you see yourself from the perspective of an observer, not a victim of the outside pressures that only reacts to whatever happens to you. If you want to go deeper in the question of “Who Am I?“, it’s important to have a practice that supports that learning.
At Knowmads, we practice a variety of them, and we invite you to do the same.

Chances are you’ve already heard many awesome things about Knowmads Hanoi. BUT – let us warn you, it’s not for everyone! Here are 9 reasons why you SHOULDN’T join our program:
# 1 You might end up discovering who you are and quit the job you don’t like.
If you have no intention of figuring out what the heck you’re doing with your life and just want to stick to a job you hate that brings you no joy or meaning whatsoever, don’t apply to our program because you might end up discovering a whole new world out there with rainbows, butterflies and unicorns.
# 2 After quitting the job you don’t like, you might find one you love.
After all, why search for passions or dreams in life, when you can just get a 9-to-5 job and do the same things and see the same people over and over again until you die? Duh.
# 3 You might end up creating positive change in your life and in the world(!).
“Positive change? You mean like making the world a better place?” Yep, that. Knowmads is a place for individuals to find out about their unique contributions and create positive impact for themselves and for others. Ain’t for couch potatoes!
# 4 You will be surrounded by people who accept you the way you are.
Can you imagine there’s a place where you can actually be yourself? So…if you enjoy wearing a mask and a pretentious smile, saying things that don’t speak to your heart, this place might be freaking scary for you because no one’s doing that!
# 5 You might find your best friends or soul mates.
If you don’t want to meet people that understand you, accept you, and support you with unconditional love, you will be VERY upset because Knowmads is full of people like that! There’s just too much love in the air.
# 6 You won’t get answers from Knowmads, just more questions.
Are you lazy to find out answers for yourself? Do you want to stick to a standard answer without thinking critically or being open to the flow of life? What is your dream? What’s preventing you from realizing it? Why? Have you actually tried? Are you sure? Ahh stoooop, too many deep questions!!
# 7 There are no “teachers” or “students” at Knowmads, just “facilitators” and “participants”.
Nope, you’re not getting those boring lectures and textbooks and homework that we all love so much. We’re all equal, co-creating the learning process together as a team. So… don’t make us angry, go call someone else “teachers”, please.
# 8 You will be exposed to an international environment with people from different cultures.
Our current core team comes from Brazil, Spain, Taiwan, etc., and every team is a mix between locals and foreigners. If you’re not stoked about working in a multicultural environment with an open heart, you won’t have fun.
# 9 You might fall in love with Hanoi. This is more for people who are outside of Vietnam.
If you aren’t excited about living in a vibrant city with friendly people, awesome food and a rich history, you will find it very boring here!
Actually, we’re kidding. Knowmads is awesome, and if you’re NOT like what we described above, you’ll love it. Promise! So…what are you waiting for? Application to our Team 7 program starting in March is open!
Love and Rock ‘n Roll,
The Knowmads Team
Pro-Action Café has always been one of the most popular and successful workshops organized by Knowmads Hanoi. This time was no different, as over 40 participants showed up at Moonwork Co-Working Space to give and receive support from the community for their projects. With nine callers stepping forward to pitch their projects, the first event of the Year of the Chicken for Knowmads Hanoi was a big success!
The nine projects which received support were:
Conversations happened in three rounds, each round with a guiding question to help move the discussion forward. In each round, three to four participants would join the callers at each table to contribute their ideas and feedback.
In the first round, the callers along with their supporters explored the deeper story behind each of their project/idea. This helped to clarify and strengthen the intentions and purposes, the WHY behind the projects, and what make them meaningful.
In the second round, the supporters brainstormed ideas about what was still missing from the projects that the callers may have overlooked, what would make them stand out and flourish and be sustainable, and not necessarily what the callers still needed like funding, location, partners, etc.
Finally, the callers had some time to reflect by themselves before the third and last round, to figure out what are the wise next steps for their projects, then discussed with their supporters to receive even more feedback. All in all, many new ideas and inspiration were generated, for which the callers were deeply thankful for. Many new bonds and partnerships were also formed, and promises made to continue supporting each other in their projects. There was even a job offer by one of the callers! Such was the power of conversation.
